Alex Lean is in the Staff Spotlight!
Alex began at Briarwood at five years old as a Busy Bee (shout out to the Dragonflies!) and he’s been at camp for more than 20 years.
In the “off season,” Alex teaches middle school in the Lower Moreland School District and coaches the boys soccer team there. Alex has also been coaching multiple travel soccer teams since 2018.
We asked Alex some questions.
Q. What’s your favorite thing about Briarwood?
A. The list goes on and on; however, if I had to choose one favorite it would have to be the people, both staff and campers are allstars.
Q. What’s your favorite food at camp?
A. That’s a tough one… Michele always serves up some great food. If I had to pick it might have to be the pizza… any excuse to play my favorite song ”That’s Amore.”
Q. What’s your favorite tv show or movie?
A. Kicking and Screaming.
Q. What’s your favorite camp activity? Why?
A. I look forward to the camp wide wiffleball tournament every summer! It is so awesome seeing kids of different ages get together and go all in on a camp wide event. Everyone gathers around the baseball diamond to cheer on their bunkmates/ counselors.
Q. What’s your favorite winter activity?
A. I love to go bowling with my friends especially in the winter!
Q. What’s the last book you read?
A. Outcasts United.
Q. If someone wrote a book about you, what would it be called?
A. A book about me would be titled “The Energizer” due to my electric personality!
Q. If you were an animal, what kind of animal would you be?
A. If I were an animal, I would be a lemur because they are small, agile and they have huge eyes!
Q. If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A. I’d go to Brazil! because I want to be able to play soccer whenever I want while also being close to some beautiful beaches!
Q. What is something that people don’t know about you?
A. I am ambidextrous.
Q. Anything else that people should know?
A. I cannot wait to come back for another eight weeks of fun in the sun!
