Swimming is a central part of summers at Briarwood Day Camp. Kids (and adults!) of all ages love to get in our pools. But why is swimming such a big deal? Let’s explain.
Sure, we’ve got lots of trees and plenty of shade. Of course, we’ve got lots of water fountains and water barrels around camp. And yes, we’ve got sprinklers and misters and hoses. But what cools off your entire body better than a pool when it’s 90 degrees? Jump in, stick your head under water and AHHHHH.
Everybody loves splashing in the pool with their friends! Laughing, kicking, diving (cannonballs, anyone?) – fun with friends in the pool is what summer memories are made of. And at Briarwood, just pass the deep water test and you get to go down the waterslides! And those are amazing!
Everyone wants their kids to be water safe. Briarwood’s certified lifeguards (with 75+ years of accumulated teaching experience) teach campers 3+ years old first how to be safe in a pool – how to blow bubbles and how to float – and then, as they progress, how to do the crawl and the backstroke, the breaststroke and the butterfly, how to tread water and how to dive and much, much more.
